Who we are

Mekedonia Charity Homes is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those in need. Jember Gebrewahid serves as our U.S. representative, driving our mission forward from Ethiopia.

Mekedonia Homes in Ethiopia was established by Biniam Belete in 2011 in Addis Ababa. Motivated by compassion, he began his journey by rescuing homeless individuals from the streets and providing them with food and shelter in his parents' home. As the organization grew, it made a significant impact on the lives of many, offering essential resources and support for reintegration into society.

What began with just 35 individuals has blossomed into a thriving community of around 8,000 residents, including 3,100 elders, 1,450 bedridden individuals, 1,560 with mental disabilities, 1,190 with physical impairments, and 200 who are visually impaired.
